Verdigris Copper Commonly Asked Questions

Verdigris copper finish refers to the greenish-blue patina that forms naturally on copper surfaces when exposed to air and moisture over time. It is commonly used in interior design and architecture as a decorative finish for copper-based objects and surfaces, giving them an attractive and unique appearance.

Yes, a verdigris lacquered finish is suitable for both indoor and outdoor showers. We apply multiple layers of hard-wearing lacquer to minimise tarnish. 

Yes, our verdigris finishes are safe for use in drinking water applications.

No, once an item has been coated in a protective lacquer, it no longer retains the naturally anti-bacterial properties of natural copper and brass. 

Yes, our verdigris finishes are coated in multiple coats of marine-grade, hardwearing lacquer. This helps protect the copper from tarnish and gradual wear. We do however suggest avoid using abrasive cleaning cloths on items to prevent the possibility of scratching away this protective coating.
